Here's what customers are saying about us. . .

Thank you so much Jane and Jen for hosting this wonderful event! I was lucky enough to attend the Assemblooks class, and had such in inspirational day. Everyone, most specially Michael, was so sharing and supportive. I felt like my art soul grew some wings. I definitely want to come back there again - I loved Random Arts and Saluda. It is a very special corner of the world. Thank you again!
Jane Bumar from Ocoee, Florida

Ali Edwards is saying this:
There are so many things I want to say about this past weekend at Donna's Inspired event. My absolute favorite part was hanging out with my sister. I loved watching her in the classes - she is one of those people who works super fast in class to get her projects done. This was her first artsy/crafty event - I think I really just loved having her experience a little bit of my life with me. She and Paolo and Angela and I had so many laughs and shopped way too much at the Random Arts booth. Basically it was beyond cool to be able to experience everything with her.

Lynn Roberts on her blog says this... April 5th

It's a looooong way from my house to any of the big name art retreats or workshops, so when I saw that Michael deMeng would teach at Random Arts last spring, I decided that it would be worth the six hour drive (each way) to attend.

Michael is the author of the recent release, Secrets of Rusty Things: Transforming Found Objects into Art. His work focuses on the "transformation" of the common into works of art. While Michael's art tends to take a turn to the "dark" side, I was primarily interested in gaining information about the basics of three dimensional construction.

One of the classes that I took was assemblage (pronounced as you would collage.) We began with a plain cigar box and used Liquid Nails to attach the pieces and parts that would find new purpose in our work. (Yes, that is a plastic pig on the front of my creation!) The transformation came in how Michael mixed and applied the Golden acrylics. (This alone was worth the price of the workshop.)

Dear Cloth Paper Scissors,
I thoroughly enjoy your magazine, and look forward to each issue (as well as your sister publication Quilting Arts). In your September/October 2007 issue you spotlighted a store by the name of Random Arts in Saluda, NC. THANK YOU! The Friday after Christmas I was traveling back from NC to TN, and thought I would go a bit out of my way to check out this store. The trip that was supposed to be only a couple of extra hours turned into an ALL DAY event - thanks to holiday traffic and terrible rain! I finally reached Random Arts about 10 minutes before closing. At this point, I had to at least walk in the store...I didn't care if someone said "Sorry, closing...come back tomorrow". But, instead I was warmly greeted by Jen (I hope to meet Jane, the owner, in the future) - who, upon hearing about my travels kept the store open for me to browse (for almost an HOUR!). While the space would probably be considered small by today's big box stores, it is filled to the brim with the most interesting items - books, magazines, baubles, trinkets, inks, fabric, papers...and so much more that I'm hoping to make a four hour trip over the mountains to visit again! (This time I'll find a day when traveling won't be such a problem.) I already have friends that want to ride over with me - and, they've never seen the place! Oh, and Random Arts also offers workshops!

So, hi, I'm Jenny and I'm addicted to Random Arts (and, Cloth Paper Scissors is one of my enablers!)!!
Again, thank you for letting the secret of this wonderful store out to the rest of us.
